The last game of the year sees St Jacques go in search of securing a double over Bournemouth Seconds.
The Vikings were victorious in the earlier season fixture at Footes Lane, but only by the narrowest of margins. Layton Batiste’s side secured the 20-19 win with a last minute penalty.
The home side come into this contest one place above the Vikings, but albeit they have played two further matches, due to the recent series of cancelled fixtures that have blighted the Sarnian side.
This will most definitely be a contest that both sides want to win, and with this being St Jacques’ final fixture of the year, the stakes are even higher.
The ‘Nomads’ have had mixed fortunes recently, but did secure an impressive victory over Basingstoke a couple of games back. Considering the close nature of the last contest between us, this week’s game looks likely to be another good contest.
Injuries and unavailability have hindered the Vikings lately, but many of those problems are starting to ease thankfully. This week several players come back in, and there is also a debutant in the squad.
A trio of Creber’s will line up tomorrow, with brothers Will & Tom included in the squad, whilst cousin Kieran is also named.
Making his debut, Luke Grigg is named amongst the replacements. He is a flanker who has moved to the island recently, having previously played for National Two West club Redruth. He has played primarily for their second XV, which also competes at Counties One level.
Tom Bray and Jacob Smith return to the pack to add some weight and strength.
In the backs, Oscar Bailey comes in for his first appearance of the season. The Loughborough university student is back on island, and provides helpful back up with Matt Lomas-Lloyd, Lucas Barker and Taylor Quate unavailable this weekend.
Gearoid Lee switches to scrum-half, whilst Sam Ferry comes back in on the wing.
Kick-off is 1pm at Chapel Gate, let’s hope the Vikings can bring home the win.
